Braving the Rain / The Day 20 Triumph of the Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Journey 2026

Monsoon Rescue on the Mugling-Dhading Highway: Manavsewa Ashram braves heavy rains on Day 20 of the Mechi-Mahakali Journey to save six vulnerable individuals

Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Journey 2026: Day 20 Highlights

The rain over the hills of central Nepal was relentless, turning the steep highways into treacherous paths of mud and mist. Yet, for the team driving the Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Journey 2026, the weather was never a reason to stop. On this milestone 20th day of their nationwide mission to rescue homeless, helpless, and vulnerable individuals, the stakes were higher than ever.

The Rainy-Day Breakthrough: Mugling to Dhading

Yesterday, as torrential downpours battered the transport corridors connecting Chitwan, Nuwakot, and Dhading, the rescue team pushed forward. Navigating the treacherous stretches from Mugling in Chitwan through to Dhading, the team refused to let the elements interrupt their operations.

Their persistence paid off. Amidst the heavy rainfall, the team successfully rescued six vulnerable individuals who had been left exposed to the elements along the highway. These individuals, battling both systemic neglect and the harsh monsoon-like weather, were safely brought into the warmth and security of the rescue vehicles.

The Nuwakot to Kathmandu Corridor

The overarching itinerary for the day traced a vital path from Nuwakot toward the capital city of Kathmandu. The journey from Mugling to Nuwakot had already tested the team's logistical limits, but the successful intervention in Dhading proved the critical necessity of this corridor. Every pitstop made along the highway revealed human lives hanging in the balance, waiting for a lifeline that the Ashram provides.

The rescue mission strictly focused its efforts on the Bidur area of Nuwakot on Sunday, according to officials from the Manavsewa Ashram—the humanitarian organization leading this massive campaign. Believing there is no time to rest, teams are already mapping out hotspots in and around Bidur where vulnerable individuals are known to seek makeshift shelter.
