Rescue of Blind Mother in Kathmandu | Ani Choying Drolma & Manavsewa Ashram

The Return to Grace: A Forgotten Mother's Rescue and Renewal

Ani Choying Drolma and the Manavsewa Ashram team recently led a critical elderly rescue Nepal operation in Kathmandu, saving a vulnerable life.

Safe & Healing

The streets of Kageshwari hold secrets of immense suffering, but they also witness profound acts of humanitarian grace. In a deeply emotional Kageshwari humanitarian initiative, celebrated Buddhist nun Ani Choying Drolma, alongside the dedicated Manavsewa Ashram's Rescue Team, successfully completed a blind mother rescue. They saved a woman in her mid-seventies who had been left to perish on the roadside.

A Mother Abandoned in the Shadows

For months, the elderly woman existed in absolute darkness, both literal and metaphorical. Completely blind and physically fragile, she had been systematically abandoned by her family. While she gave birth to several sons, the crippling grip of alcoholism left them unable and unwilling to care for her.

Residents reported a harrowing history of neglect. Rather than receiving the respect and protection traditional to Nepalese culture, she frequently suffered severe, recurring physical abuse at the hands of her own adult children. When the rescue team arrived, they discovered deep, unhealed burn scars running down her legs—painful, physical receipts of the cruelty she had quietly endured.

The Turning Point in Kageshwari

The rescue was a swift intervention of pure compassion. Alerted by the community, Ani Choying Drolma and the Manavsewa Ashram organizers stepped in to disrupt her cycle of trauma. Volunteers gently lifted her from the dirt, tended to her immediate physical pain, and offered her words of reassurance that her days of fear were officially over.

A Haven for Healing

Today, her reality has completely transformed. She is now resting safely under the protective care of the Manavsewa Ashram branch in Kathmandu.

  • Medical Care: Professionals are actively treating her unhealed leg burns.
  • Nourishment: She receives warm meals, clean clothing, and a secure bed.
  • Dignity: She is surrounded by a community that honors her life rather than exploiting her vulnerability.

This successful intervention shines as a beacon of hope, proving that collective community action can restore dignity to society's most vulnerable.
