Mechi-Mahakali Rescue Journey | 35 Homeless Rescued from Madhesh Province Streets

Manavsewa Ashram's ongoing nationwide campaign reaches a critical milestone as 35 homeless individuals are successfully rescued and sheltered

JANAKPUR, NEPAL The Manavsewa Ashram's Mechi-Mahakali rescue journey campaign has rescued 35 street-dependent people from various districts of Madhesh Province to protect them ahead of the monsoon season.
 
The initiative is part of the ongoing Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Tour, a joint effort by the Manavsewa Ashram and the Ani Choing Drolma Foundation.
The rescue team saved 28 men and 7 women who were living in vulnerable conditions on roadsides, market areas, and near temples.

Key Highlights of the Rescue Mission
  • Targeted Operations: Search teams covered highly populated public spaces across Madhesh Province.
  • Monsoon Protection: The campaign intensified its efforts to move citizens from dangerous open-sky conditions to secure facilities before heavy rains start.
  • Demographics: A total of 35 individuals (28 males, 7 females) were taken into care.
  • Next Destination: On Monday, the rescue team moves toward Hetauda and Chitwan to continue operations.
  • Campaign Duration: This national humanitarian initiative will run until Jestha 22.

Rehabilitation and Family Reunion Services
The rescued individuals are now housed at various branches of the Manavsewa Ashram. They are receiving comprehensive care, including:
  1. Safe Housing & Food: Immediate shelter and nutritious meals.
  2. Healthcare & Sanitation: Medical checkups, hygiene care, and clothing.
  3. Psychosocial Counseling: Mental health support to help heal from street trauma.
  4. Family Integration: Active tracing and coordination to reunite individuals with their families.
