236 helpless people rescued under Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Campaign-2024

Kathmandu, Nov 15: Two hundred and thirty-six helpless people living on the streets have been rescued in course of the 'Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Campaign, 2024'.The campaign was jointly organized by the Manav Sewa Ashram and the Ani Choying Drolma Foundation.     

Those rescued include 179 men , 57 women five girls and four boys, according to a press release issued by the Ashram today.     

A total 44 persons (35 men and nine women) were rescued from Koshi province, 40 (29 men and 11 women) from Madhes province, 57 persons (40 male and 17 female) from Bagmati province, 35 persons (27 males and eight females) from Gandaki province, 49 persons (40 males and nine females) from Lumbini province, three persons (two males and one female) from Karnali province and eight people (six males and two females) from Sudurpaschim province.     

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had formally inaugurated the campaign from his official residence at Baluwatar on October 12. The campaign will be concluded on November 18 at Nepal Academy, Kathmandu where PM Oli will be the chief guest.     

The rescue campaign was started from the Mechi bridge in Jhapa district on October 14. The National Rescue Team reached 44 districts in all the seven provinces and rescued the helpless people living on the streets.     

The rescue team comprised of 47 people including senior singer and philanthropist Ani Choyeing Drolma and founder of the Ashram and central chairperson Ramji Adhikari among others.     

The Foundation had borne all the expenses of the 'Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Campaign-2024.(RSS)
