Courage on the Streets: 5 Rescued, 3 Reunited with Families in Kathmandu
Manavsewa Ashram’s recent humanitarian efforts in Kathmandu have successfully rescued five individuals and reunited three more with their families, part of a broader campaign to make Nepal a "street-dependent human-free" nation by 2082 B.S. (2026 AD). On Tuesday, the team rescued three men and two women, providing them with immediate shelter, while also facilitating the return of three recovered individuals to their homes.

Key Rescue and Support Highlights

  • Successful Rescues: 5 individuals (3 men, 2 women) were rescued from the streets and given care and dignity at the Ashram.
  • Family Reunions: 3 recovered individuals were successfully reunited with their families.
  • Community Generosity: The public contributed over Rs 1.5 million in donations to support daily operations.
  • Food Support: The community provided 33 full meals (Bhojan Sewa) and 10 snacks (Khaja Sewa).
  • Humanitarian Engagement: Nearly 400 people visited the Ashram to support its mission of providing food, clothing, and shelter to the city’s most vulnerable.

Financial Sustainability

Operating these essential services costs approximately Rs 690,000 daily. The recent surge in community support ensures the Ashram can maintain its status as a safe haven and continue its intensive rehabilitation programs. Over the past eight years, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has collaborated with the Ashram to rescue nearly 3,000 individuals, providing significant financial and logistical aid to sustain these efforts.
