Courage on the Streets: 5 Rescued, 3 Reunited with Families in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal: Manavsewa Ashram recently carried out a successful humanitarian mission, rescuing five individuals from the streets and reuniting three others with their families. This effort is part of the broader campaign to make Nepal a “street-dependent human-free” nation by 2082 B.S. (2026 AD).

On Tuesday, the Ashram team rescued three men and two women, providing immediate shelter, care, and dignity, while facilitating the safe return of three recovered individuals to their homes.

Key Rescue and Support Highlights

  • Successful Rescues: 5 individuals (3 men, 2 women) rescued and cared for at the Ashram
  • Family Reunions: 3 recovered individuals reunited with their families
  • Community Generosity: Public donations totaling over Rs 1.5 million to support daily operations
  • Food Support: 33 full meals (Bhojan Sewa) and 10 snacks (Khaja Sewa) provided by the community
  • Humanitarian Engagement: Nearly 400 visitors supported the Ashram by providing food, clothing, and assistance

Financial Sustainability

Operating these essential services costs approximately Rs 690,000 daily. The recent surge in community support ensures the Ashram can maintain its role as a safe haven and continue its rehabilitation programs.

Over the past eight years, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has partnered with the Ashram to rescue nearly 3,000 individuals, providing both financial and logistical support to sustain these efforts.
