Journey Home: 48 People Rescued and 20 Reunited in Seven Days

Kathmandu — In a major boost to humanitarian efforts in Nepal, Manavsewa Ashram has successfully rescued 48 homeless, street-dependent individuals from across the country within the third week of March to mid-April 2026, providing them with immediate shelter and a path toward rehabilitation. Among those brought into safe custody, 30 are men and 18 are women, all of whom were living in precarious conditions on the streets and public places.

A Journey Back to Families

According to the Ashram’s reports, in addition to the rescues, the organization has intensified its efforts to reconnect street-dependent people with their loved ones. Through dedicated counseling and improved health conditions following medical care, 20 individuals were successfully reunited with their families during this period.

Expanding the Mission for a "Human-Free Street"

With the number of people in need of rescue increasing, Manavsewa Ashram is expanding its campaign to achieve its goal of a "collaborative, street-dependent, human-free nation," aiming to make Nepal free of street-dependent people by 2026. To date, the organization is actively operating 29 branches across the country, aiming to provide comprehensive care, including rescue, treatment, protection, and family reintegration to those who are helpless and abandoned.

This initiative is part of a broader, sustained effort to ensure that individuals struggling with mental health, disability, or lack of support are not left to live under the open sky.

The Manavsewa Ashram continues to request the public to report any individuals found living in such difficult conditions in their area.
